To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Cooperation Network, Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong and Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao host a travelling exhibition entitled "Maritime Porcelain Road: Relics from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Museums". This exhibition is undertaken by the Guangdong Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Macao Museum and will be exhibited in Macao, Guangzhou and Hong Kong from 2012 to 2014.

Being a successful example of mutual benefit and close elaboration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao cultural departments, this exhibition aims to select the most representative relic resources to bring a cultural feast to visitors in these three places. Based on serious academic research and rich collections of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao museums as well as two years elaborate preparation, 180 pieces/sets of relics are chosen to outline the history of the development of export porcelain. Three highlights of this exhibition are summed up as follows. Firstly, exhibits are rich and overall. Export porcelain products of all the bygone dynasties throughout China are on display, including precious relics recently salvaged from Nanao No. 1 for the first time. Secondly, it shows the charm of China. By exhibiting some of the exquisite porcelain produced in Japan, Europe as well as other places, this exhibition endeavors to reveal the influence of Chinas porcelain on overseas porcelain production and development. Thirdly, it records the exchange between China and foreign countries. By exhibiting exquisite articles of imitated foreign porcelain, for example, Jingdezhen used to imitate the Imari ware in the 18th Century, this exhibition reflects the exchange and blending of porcelain culture between China and foreign countries. In this exhibition, you can grasp the thread of porcelain development, appreciate the refinement of export porcelain and admire the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
